Considering that we're less than 1% of the population IIRC, the fact that 10-11 of us showed up so far is actually telling. :P

Into: your gender, anarchism/communism, obliteration of kyriarchy, environment, other obvious '-10.00, -9.13 in political compass' stuff
Anti: your gender (undo it interacting with me), Born This Way (also medicalism/pathologization/eugenics), outer space, abuse/predation, owners, power, hierarchy, internalization/privilege goggles (essential to the continuity of identity with power/hierarchy systems), essentialism/determinism, nihilism/defeatism

It doesn't matter on this site, and the only way we know is that they tell us.

Really, I'm talking about real life.

Mostly because I have that whole, "everyone's equal" view.

No. You need to stop peddling bullshit. No one is sick. And you need to understand that. It's not about anyone else being less emotional. It's you needing to get that into your head that no one is sick.

Yes, it is telling. It either means that Autistics are drawn to these sites or that there are a few fibbers in this thread.

Autists, not autistics. Sorry, just had to point that out.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

While I am not on the spectrum, I have always wondered this:

how would you feel being on the 'spectrum' inhibits and improves your life? Like what are both the good and bad parts?

I was diagnosed with Asperger's, although I reject the diagnosis. I've seen and met a number of real Asperger's people, my brother has autism and I know that I'm not like that. Just because I'm a little OCD about some things and rather shy does not make me have Asperger's. It has been over diagnosed.

Well, I don't like how it's harder to make friends or social connections, and I miss out on many social cues that are taken for granted. But I do like how I'm able to focus on something intensely, and I think my analytical skills are fairly good.

I suffer from Aspergers. If there's anything about me I like to keep a secret from people, it's that. I live in a very backwards area, and being written off as "that odd guy" is a lot better then a mob of rednecks wanting me to be sterilized or castrated.

The bad parts, for me, is the lack of a social life and the whole scary social interactions and awkwardness. It's part of the reason why I'm 21 years old and haven't had a proper job.

About one of the good aspects of this is being able to retain a fairly decent amount of information about things. It makes me very good at general knowledge quizzes and those kinds of game shows like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?".

Actually, I don't know if I have autism or not
The paper says eligibility for autism so I may have or may not have it
But meh, I don't really care because everyone has a disability in their own form

I'm ADHD. Is that considered a type of autism or is it its own thing?

I just realized I used the Portuguese acronym for ADHD (TDAH) in the thread. :P

Nordengrund wrote:I'm ADHD. Is that considered a type of autism or is it its own thing?

No, it's not at all autism.

Often, people with Asperger's are misdiagnosed as having ADD, but the medication for it doesn't really help us.

I have Hyperlexia myself, which is considered a mild form of Autism. The only ways that I'm different from most other people is that I read more, am actually quite shy, and am a little more prone to panic.

Could be HFA, could be something completely differently.

Which is true and only logical, since the way your brain works is very much an integral part of your genetic code.

I think that you need the genetic side in order to have autism, but you won't necessarily develop it even if you got the genetics.
