He doesn't want use to be like Europe, as he is a center-right wing American capitalist, not a centrist social democrat. Europe isn't mediocre. America isn't the greatest nation on earth in any criteria. Except that we have the highest incarceration rates in the world.

"Hate" is a strong word, but there's not much to be admired about the Chicago political machine he was bred out of.

I'm not a fan of his White House's efforts to federalize programs like heath care and education, which can be more effectively administered by smaller polities, but that's not a trait unique to the Obama Administration.

Furthermore, for a man whom campaigned on a platform of peace and a 21st century rebranding of America's global image, he's adhered to longstanding traditions of writing generous unconditional checks to the DoD during annual discretionary allocation. Again, not unique to his Administration, just a contributor to an ongoing problem.
