A good introduction to Libertarian Socialism:

Libertarian Socialist Rants

Also, the wikipedia page:

Very well, thanks!

I'll occasionally check this thread out to kinda gain some views of other local socialists around here.
'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

Tip*: If you are serious about learning about socialism, forget everything about it you've been taught in all your years of "education". All your schooling is liberal-capitalist propaganda inteded to poison your mind with bourgeois degeneracy and maintain your ignorance about the proletariat's current vegetative state. Start as a clean slate, and allow socialism to embrace you.

That sounds creepy, but the point it true.

To be honest, that is true about ANY ideology. Never trust a history teacher when they start talking about political ideologies, because it is all opinion. If you ever want to learn about an ideology, it is best to ask people who actually believe in it to explain their reasoning. I did a few months of study on National Socialism and other forms of fascism by hanging out in fascist regions on NS. I don't support fascism, but I at least understand the ideology now rather than just accepting that it's bad by default.

Ah I see. I do remain cautious when learning about these things, especially about history and politics. I'm more of a science guy if you ask me, but I do open my arms to learn about new things. Politics isn't my most favored choice, but I've learned that it is one of those things in life that is "nice to know".

The beauty of Socialism is actually of such a sort that it can come to "embrace" you. One of the best things about being a Socialist is that if you study and practice it enough, you can actually feel the deep truth of it deep inside you at times.

I agree with socialist principles because it seems to eliminate a lot of challenges of that a capitalist nation would face, like crime, poor/rich divide. I also like socialism because in a socialist society, skills tend to be valued more than money; in a capitalist society money is extremely valued more than anything else...

I like how most socialists/ciommunists on this forum are middle class children from first world countriess
"Nowadays everybody's got to go to shrinks and counselors, and go on Sally Jesse Raphael and talk about their problems. Whatever happened to Gary Cooper, the strong, silent type? That was an American. He wasn't in touch with his feelings. He just did what he had to do. See, what they didn't know is once they got Gary Cooper in touch with his feelings, that they wouldn't be able to shut him up. And then it's dysfunction this and dysfunction that and dysfunction vaffanculo!"

Socialism isn't a philosophy. It's a business model (well... more of a class of business models). And it doesn't have a spiritual side.

Socialism is a political ideology, based on the principles of Marxism. It goed way beyond mere business models.
And while I wouldn't call it "spiritual", there is most definitely a very important philosophical and ideological part to Socialism. Reducing Socialism to mere economism and mathematics is depriving it of an essential part.

People like to see it that way, sure. But keep in mind socialism is an umbrella of related schools, not all branches of socialism are materialist and athiest. I don't see socialism is a linear " business model", I view it as an all encompassing moral, spiritual, and economic philosophy.

A pair of extreme socialists eh?

Socialism isn't a philosophy. It's a business model (well... more of a class of business models). And it doesn't have a spiritual side.

Marxist versions of it are very much based in philosophy, dialectical and historical materialism.
