This nation does reflect my IRL views unless something is more interesting to differ from what I believe otherwise. For example, Welskerland is a constitutional monarchy, while I prefer a republic IRL.

Yeah, that would be nice. for both of us.

you waste less of our taxes and we don't control your useless resources and laws

How about no? Yeah I'm gonna go with no. We'll take your taxes thanks, even the relatively paltry amount we're given comparatively. It's less than we're owed after centuries worth of careful funneling of everything into London to our detriment but we can fix that in the future. You're never going to get your wish of not having to deal with us which is unfortunate for you but rest assured I will take no small amount of pleasure knowing that's the case. In fact if Labour win the next election I may very well get my wish! And you'll see the very opposite of yours coming true, isn't that nice.

Oh no! The South is going to vote mainly conservative! I didn't see this coming! Good luck convincing inner city London to though. But don't worry, I'm sure the will of southerners alone will defeat the rest of the UK combined. I mean, you so effectively held onto powers over Scotland, Wales and NI right?

Shouldn't it be the other way around, with "nation" having the negative, imperialist connotations and "country" having the positive "nice people" connotations?

But nation rings of bad stuff like "nationalism", "national socialism" and generally has some somewhat aggressive undertones, while "country" sounds like home, sweet home and is all in all a warmer and cozier word.
