Do you approve of the United Kingdom?

Hello Nationstates General. Today I have another question. Do you approve of the United Kingdom? The United Kingdom follows the United States on its tours around the world, always by its side. It is also a critical component in NATO. However, it has recently taken unpopular actions, like ignored radical Islam for fear of being labeled as a racist country. Or if the UKIP party wins, and it looks like it is, it will leave the European Union. But still, on the other hand, it is sending troops to Estonia to help prepare Estonian troops. It was the country that has given birth to the most influential powers around the world. I.E Australia, Canada, United States, New Zealand. So my question is, do you approval or disapprove?

I approve of the United Kingdom. I don't see a reason not to...the United Kingodm isn't the British Empire, for one.

Your claim about, "not fighting radical Islam," is unfounded. The UK's has participated and is particapting in coalition forces against radical Islam in the Mideast.

Yeah its alright, ive got no issues with most of the British people ive met in my life, most have been very nice and ive gotten along well with them, though i disagree with a lot of its governments actions.

I am neutral regarding the UK, I do tend to see them in a more positive than negative light so not really neutral either.
I do approve of them being members of NATO, the different parts of the UK like Scotland and England to name two of the four.
Some great food and music and other stuff from there.

As a Brit, I like the UK. I absolutely despise the relatively recent trend towards authoritarianism and the borderline fascist policies that the Tories are enacting and that Labour, UKIP, and basically everyone else promise to enact.

Why would I disapprove of my native country? :blink:

The issues that you listed for the UK are either exaggerated or worse elsewhere. The UK is probably the firmest opponent of radical Islam is Europe (it refuses to pay ransoms, it almost always goes with the US to Middle East conflict zones and it is much more willing to lock suspected terrorists up for example).
Also UKIP will never ''win''. That is like saying the US Libertarian party is going to win, because yes, that party is popular in some parts of the country but it will never get far due to the electoral system!

As for the Empire... well, history is history, and there is not much we can do about that anymore. :blush:

Yes I approve of the UK... Although for the next sixteen weeks at least, I disapprove of it's government.

I'm not a Brit, but I think that since WW2, the UK has been a force of good in the world. They're ardent supporters of democracy, parliaments, and freedom worldwide. Aspects of the UK's past have even negative, especially during the colonial era, where they did grotesque, terrible things. But, as the era of disgusting colonialism ended, so did many of Britain's human rights abuses.

As for the British people and culture, I quite like British culture, particularly British music. Most British people I encounter are friendly and very social. Overall, the UK is a country with a bad past, but a positive future. It's people are nice, as is the culture.
