There is a reason the 80's were called the "Decade of Decadence" and the 90's were the most depressing decade ever.

That doesn't even make sense. Aside from the easy rebuttal that 1860-69 and 1930-39 were far worse, what was so bad about the 90's?
It started out with the victory in Iraq, which was a redemption for the Armed Forces after the calamity of the Vietnam War, then the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The economy was solid after the early recession and the US ended the decade as the Global Hyperpower. Democracy was taking hold in nearly all the former Soviet States, and terrorism was virtually ignored in favor of Presidential sex-scandals.
While we paid dearly for it in the first decade of the 21st Century, I don't see what you're talking about when you claim that the 80's were so much better than the 90's.
Aside from Star Wars, Back To The Future, The Breakfast Club, Transformers and GI Joe, of course.
