Suicide is selfish. I have no intention to sugarcoat something like that. From a personal standpoint, my sister attempted suicide last year, for several reasons. The only case where i see suicide as justifiable is if excessive torture(followed by death) awaits you. But pussying out because life was really really hard for you is stupid. And even so to use such a selfish act to practically beg society to fix itself. If you actually cared about how trans-gender people are treated, you would have attempted to change that.

It's not pussying out. Suicide is tragic, and it happens when people literally don't see any other options. Very few people who commit suicide truly wanted death, but they saw it as the only option. And, the reason Leela begged people to chance is because it caused her horrible misery. Honestly, show some fucking compassion.

How would showing compassion be practical, though? I don't know her, for all i know she could have been an asshole of greater extent than what you view me. She was tormented, that's true, and that's bad. But mourning over that isn't going to help anyone. Like i said, seeing death as the only option is idiotic. It is the logical equivalent of hysteria.

Pre-op people can still get very upset about being referred to with a pronoun they don't want, and it's just a word, so why not humor them and call them what they want to be called? It's such a small thing to do, but it really means a lot to some people. Why do something that you know is going to upset them?

Just because you didn't know her, that doesn't mean you shouldn't show compassion. She suffered through a hell of a lot, why shouldn't we acknowledge that and show compassion towards her? And, seeing death as the only option isn't necessarily rational. But, unless you've been on the edge of suicide, you don't know what it feels like when that feeling dawns upon you. The feeling that you literally can't move on.

No, it wasn't a typo. Your fellow poster has been calling Leelah "he" for a while now.

And no, not both of them are correct. Leelah Alcorn did not identify as male. If you care for accuracy, you'll refer to her as "she". If you want to mention the fact that she was assigned male at birth every time you refer to her as "she", be my guest, but don't misgender someone who was driven to suicide in no small part because her own family went out of its way to misgender her.
