California would declare war on the US for control of the Colorado River.

In a Soviet World, I doubt the American Remnants would be fighting each other. I think a more probable outcome is a loose anti Soviet Association between the former USA states. Possibly something akin to the EU?

I'd be working in the gulag for espousing bourgeois individualism and counterrevolutionary actions.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what kind of logic fuckery made the US collapse in this scenario. But I'd probably either not be born or be an extreme anti-USSR nut who wants to steal a nuke and blow up Moscow.

I'd probably get arrested for being a "revisionist" or a "social fascist" or something stupid like that.

A Troskyist?? Sir, if Stalin were still alive when all of this was done, then you would be shot on the spot.

Well, the USSR collapsed into different states, so I am guessing he is trying to mirror that result.

That's what I figured, but the US doesn't really have enough support in any areas for secession and even when there are people who want to leave they're outnumbered by the people who don't. Either way, I would probably oppose the USSR because totalitarianism isn't fun m'kay.

I would already graduated from University and I would be a secondary school teacher, teaching kids Marxist-Leninism.

Now why do Reagan's policies cripple the US in this POD when they only hurt the Soviets in our timeline? Was this a different Reagan? Was this Reagan a far left anarchist or something?

Focusing on just one POTUS makes the OP's argument effectively weak. It would have to be a continuous series of factors dating back to the beginning of the end of the Second Great War. That would actually make an interesting alternate history thread.

If the U.S. had collapsed, the USSR would've been glad to take that opportunity to invade in a sneak attack. We would still have had nukes, but we would be severely weakened at that point and in a disorganized state. When a nation is in turmoil it's the best time to pounce. The Soviets were all about spreading their ideology, by force, when they could, and their greatest rival would have been the ultimate prize.

Why attack when you can use their greatest weapon against them?

Just have an election, and get a party that aligns into soviet interests into power.

I mean its how that managed to do it in certain countries (such as the former Czechoslovakia).

India was not Capitalist until 1991. They had their own agenda of semi-socialism.

To answer your question I would probably get a gun and kill some communists.

The event would likely have resulted in my parents consummating their first child at a different stage, thus a different person being born and me not being here.

Alternatively if I was still born I would probably be living in a South Africa with far greater income equality, a better life for the poor, lwaa luxurious life for the rich, likely a lower murder rate and probably a far weaker economy. Hopefully I would still be studying at university and enjoying it.

I probably wouldn't have been born but in the event that I did live I'd probably be another one of the many indoctrinated to mindlessly follow the state's way.

Well, that's if my parents stayed in Spain and never moved to the UK. In the event that they moved to the UK and I was born here I'd probably work for at the government's Self-Sufficiency Office!

That's realistic...I'm a social democrat myself, but please. I'm not so naive as to believe that the USSR surviving will create a problem free paradise . Hell, Stalinism is just as bad as fascism in my opinion.

Yeah, I think they could rig elections. That's the only way to get a party like that into power in the U.S. Plenty of Americans would still eventually resist such a party though. They would still need direct control of the population.

An occupation would be for the symbolism too. Soviet troops finally occupying what had been the capitalist power.

As a proud citizen of the unified German Democratic Republic, I would most likely be a SED-member, working as a propaganda writer or something similiar.

It ashames me, but I have to admit that I'm quite easy to impress, which makes me vulnerable to smart propaganda. If I had grown up in a totalitarian socialist state, I would most likely be one of its staunchest supporters...
