You wouldn't think it but I've heard a surprising amount of people who left one religion and leaned toward a new one because in their words "it appeals to me".

Barring brief periods of agnosticism (both atheist/theist) and non-denominational Christianity, I have always been a very devout Catholic.

Recently however, I am starting to lean back towards a more secular worldview. I'm not going to declare anything yet, but the ideas of both neutral agnosticism and deism take my interest.

Of course they can. Religion is a spiritual thing, it's not burned into your DNA.
