Everything you find correct is actually ethically unacceptable, and everything you find incorrect either ethically justified or an ethical imperative.

So, calling me incorrect is merely a reaffirmation that, yes, in fact, I nailed it.

The problem is that we are still looking at this case with a massive case of hindsight bias.

Yes, we know now that the gun was fake and the suspect was a kid. But the officer at the time didn't know that.

Good job. Want a award for defeating Infected Mushroom? Or do you have too many?

Nah, I just don't see a reason to get an airsoft or other replica like things except of a movie or some other permission related thing. I mean I guess you can modify a toy gun (nerf) to be an actual one, but I have no idea how you go about it. Not that I wish to put fear in anyone, I'm just thinking about the variables of the situation.

I'm not seeing it too clearly either.

It's not a question of victory or defeat.

It's a question of how many insane positions can one person hold.

Read first before ignoring
Your description suggests an awful police officer. If you watched the video, you'd see they got unusually close. There wasn't a whole lot of time between when they CLAIMED to have said something (there's no audio, so we can't even be sure they did) and when he was shot, and you shouldn't go into fight or flight. You should remain calm and collected. There shouldn't be a panicked fight or flight. You should remain in control of your actions the whole time. They should also be able to see how young he is.

I wonder how many people in the shoes of the police officer would wait a few seconds to see if the gun was real or not.

This crucifixion of the police is really impulsive and filled with hind-sight bias. I don't blame them though, the title of the thread was manipulative.

It must be the capitalized ''12 YEAR OLD'' thing. You have to know the rhetoric.

If someone looks like he's pulling out a weapon and gets shot... BUT IN HINDSIGHT we know the gun was fake and he was 12 years old. It's ALWAYS the policeman's fault.

Because of course... WE are morally superior and WE would have waited a few more seconds and risk getting shot ourselves.

Even though its the police who are risking their lives on a daily basis to protect us.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.

Slightly more convincing if you weren't equally keen to defend the officer who shot an un-armed man.

Whoops: mixed up exactly which "police shoot unarmed man/child" thread I've been posting in.

However the gun (toy) was not "openly" carried it was in the boy's waitband. He reached for it posing a viable threat to police officers. In training all police are told hands kill.

Indeed. I have never heard of any personal firearm (let alone handgun) that weighs 25 lbs. Admittedly some rifles weigh-in around 13 pounds, but a handgun?

RL gun manufacturers are currently profiting from lighter and smaller handguns, not heavier and larger one, due in large part to the proliferation of legalizing concealed carry.
