Yes. It's easy for us to call someone an idiot when they should fucking know better (talking about the cop).

That he was a ruthless killer? Not really.
That he was an idiot? Yes, I will argue that. Because it is both idiotic and dumb to believe that, when even observant people could determine that the gun was "probably fake", a fucking cop can't distinguish the difference.
Or perhaps rather than an idiot, an inexperienced officer who had just been told by his superiors that there was an armed black guy running around, with no mention of the fake gun or the fact the person in question was a kid, and because of that escalated things further than he would have if he'd known it was a kid with a toy gun?

The same reason it should be fucking obvious to anyone with half a brain that the gun isn't heavy enough for the kid to lift.
I mean if we're going to grasp at straws as to what the gun was like then the point remains that the gun wasn't even a really "for real" gun in my opinion and should and could have been easily distinguishable upon observation.
That this fails to grasp the minds of people here is what is concerning.

He did it before the cops arrived.
The caller noted that the gun was probably fake, and he was a juvenile.
Dispatch didn't relay the information to the responding officers.
When they arrive he isn't twirling the gun nor is it in his hands.
So it really doesn't matter at all.

Do you know what the officer could see? Do you know what he was thinking? Do you know what he was feeling?
No. You're making judgements based on you, sat behind a computer.

The kid was brandishing an airsoft gun, with the orange tip removed. When approached by the officer and requested to raise his hands, he instead reached for the gun. I don't see how anyone with any amount of common sense could fault the officer in this situation.

So you just admitted the cop wasn't the only idiot in the picture but the entire department.
You know, that doesn't make the picture any better.

Or, perhaps, someone who isn't fucking paying attention to what they're doing.
Sort of like an idiot.

Common sense isn't that common and that is apparent on here. Especially when people think that a child should literally be allowed to kill someone because you shouldn't harm a child no matter what.

I've never said that a child should be allowed to kill an adult.
Rather, that this situation could have been solved in a different manner OTHER than killing the kid.

You know who's the idiot here? The person that let this kid run around with a realistic gun while waving it around at people.

If you can't teach your dispatchers to relay vital information then yes, the entire department is full of idiots who are not fucking paying attention.

You didn't but someone else said that. He literally said that if a child is committing a violent act we should allow him to do it because we shouldn't harm a child.

Because it reflects on dispatcher training as a whole, and not just the incompetence of a single person right?

Well that's stupid.
I mean, why the fuck would we allow a child to commit a violent act towards us just because we shouldn't harm children.

I mean, sure; but we're not talking about the parents (who are obviously morons for letting their kid even own a gun in the first place. I don't give a damn if it is a airsoft gun).
