A few months ago, when this was first starting to brew over, I maintained a neutral position on this. My only stance was no event justified any form of violence from the protesters, and that the looting reported was wrong and unjust.
I still maintain that all protests should be peaceful assemblies. But now, given more development and research, I respectfully and humbly stand with the people who demand justice for Micheal Brown. What happened was wrong, and the officer who committed the action should have been at least tried. However, I also respect the decision of the jury. Even when we disagree with the rulings, we are obligated to respect them. Thus is the foundation of our rule of law.
What we need to do now is push for racial equality at all turns. Our job is clearly not done. We need to let Micheal Brown rest in peace, and not politicize his case any longer. The only thing to be done is to advocate justice in his memory, peacefully and lawfully.
