giving care costs them money

they less care they give the more money they make

taking care of someones chronic condition for years is also expensive, probably more so then they will ever be able to afford. so they most cost effective way is to find a way to drop them.

their point is to maximize profit, the best way to do which is to minimize expenses.

do you remember the whole pre-existing condition shit? did you ever wonder why they did that and did everything they possibly could to get out of giving care to people?
