With your ideal set, Russia, after what it has fostered in Eastern Europe, should be untenable, let alone to be considered a "good ally".
Ditto to China, who annexed Tibet (quite violently, pushing some monks to commit self-immolation in protest) and who, were it not for shoddy amphibious capabilities and American guarantees, would probably finish what they started in the fifties and roll over Taiwan.
