I think they're saying that arts and crafts aren't a good example (though I somewhat with that.) What about things like trade? carpentry, or electrician? Or even things like programming or other such mental tasks? I'm assuming this is mostly for the disabled though. plus I think they mean globally.

Oh I know someone who can't handle strange people - ever. Like that person becomes nearly completely unable to function if that person is around strangers, and can only do so with great and massive difficulty if someone that person loves and trusts is nearby. This person also struggles with strange places.

That precludes pretty much any job, but doesn't prevent that person from cooking, cleaning, and bathing in their own home.

Job: follow orders, exist in a social situation, conform to strict guidelines.
Take care of yourself: eat, sleep in a safe place, drink water.

Which one of those do you think, say, an autistic person would be able to handle on a day-to-day basis?

There's a man that lives opposite my house who suffers from schizophrenia. He doesn't work, and he does completely fine on his own with the occasional checkup. Many, if not most, mentally ill people are completely capable of taking care of themselves on a day to day basis, even if they can't work as a result of their condition.

I have difficulty leaving my house. I am reduced to panic at seemingly simple things. Despite those factors, I am perfectly capable of bathing, eating, and keeping my home clean.

As a socially awkward accountant, I have/have had to deal with clients on a daily basis, make phone calls to the IRS (phone calls with strangers are impossible some days too), attend continuing education in a classroom setting with strangers, do interviews on the radio for modern tax topics, meet with revenue agents, testify in tax court, and a number of other interpersonal tasks.

Congratulations on insulting everyone with clinical social anxiety (and everyone else with a mental illness, really) by conflating social ineptness with a medical condition.

What good is society to them if it doesn't take care of its most vulnerable?

yes I realized that after i remembered where you're from. I do apologize for that. it's mostly a difference in culture and economics from where we are from. Of course, it's not impossible to be a good potter here, but think here it would be more for art than just plants.

Perhaps, but those require coworker interaction, which is just as impossible.

Name a job where you only ever have to speak with someone who you know and trust at any time. Name one.
