A shooting at Walmart - Oh, noes!

Postby Anti-Social Darwinism » Wed Jan 06, 2010 10:34 am

I occasionally shop at the Walmart in question. In fact, I drove into the parking lot right behind virtually every police cruiser in the Springs when this happened. I was tempted to leave and go to King Sooper's at first, but I really wasn't feeling well and just wanted to get my shopping done (and to go to King Soopers meant dealing with road construction in the snow - I'd rather deal with gunmen). Basically, one entrance was sealed off while the Springs' finest did whatever it is they do. No one was really inconvenienced and, if you watch the video, you'll see that people are really eager for their 15 minutes. The one thing that disturbs me, though - if you watch Detective Sergeant Schwall telling everyone that they're safe and the community is in no danger - not once does he look at the camera or make eye contact with anyone. I seriously wonder if he can be trusted.

Absolutely.

I hadn't heard about this incident but I did hear that Colorado Springs was discontinuing its police helicopter patrols, in part because of budget constraints and also because the two helicopters they have are 35 to 40 years old and aren't safe to fly anymore. They have no plans to replace them right now, the city simply can't afford it. Linky.

See if they went to a local merchant to buy womens clothing and not that hotbed of corporate greed, they wouldn't have had that problem.

Not funny. But since you think it is funny I am gonna give you a quiz.

1. Where was the first Walmart founded?
2. Which State was it founded in?

To be fair, there is an independent women's clothing store in my town that's survived the Super Wal-Mart for several years, but they specialize in plus sizes.

They seem to do pretty good business. :(
