America's economic and political "center" have definitely moved to the right since the rise of Reagan. And any closer integration between us and you will do the same to our "center". To conform to the new economic rules, what was once "right" will become "center", and what was once "ultra-liberalism" will become "right". Left will simply fall off the chart.
For all his Machiavellian ploys, one of the greatest things I am grateful for politically is the Mitterrand presidency. I can only imagine what France would be like if liberal Valéry Giscard d'Estaing's presidency had coincided with Reagan-Thatcher.

It's unfortunate, but I definitely will. If the European Parliament passes TTIP, I'll throw away all my political convictions and vote for the FN. If our parliament does the same, hell I'll become a card carrying member and campaign for Marine; I've already revoked my membership in the Socialist Party why the hell not.

I saw some awful shit when I was in America, and everybody acted like it was normal. Awful. I just wouldn't want that for my country.

Look, I'm an American. I'm proud. I'm arrogant. But...

For chrissake please don't leave us isolated here with these neo-Calvinist fundamentalists!

The only way America, or any country, really, can ever change the views of its internal society is through the influence of other nations. Let's face it: an America sick of Europe's influence would be further left to the machinations of neoliberal neocons. We're all members of NATO here. We're all buddies, right? Don't leave us babe, we can change!

With all seriousness, I'm not asking that you advocate buddying up to the US. Just, y'know, don't write us off as a lost cause yet. Give us the benefit of the doubt, even if at a distance.

Well? A little more then that. Hillary had her husband and not much more.

if the Hillary of today was running. Obama would of had a tougher fight.

From what I can tell republicans are looking to pick up 5-6 seats this election cycle. Not going to fix anything it really won't as instead of the Legislature fighting amongst itself it will be the legislative and executive branch bitching and moaning at one another.

I can happily say that it looks like Pat Roberts 30+ year career in Washington may come to an end as well. As a Kansas Pat hasn't done shit for this state in Washington.

You mean the faith that led to "in god we trust" being stamped on money.

Money is the life force of the US. Drop it from the equation and people loose interest in anything really fast.

The worship of money is an American value. From the 1700s to the present. Money's value in America is not comparable to any other developed nation's, and more along the same line as some of the developing or nouveaux riches nations of the world.

And no, faith in a god is not a traditional American value. That's why we're a secular nation and why our founding fathers were deists many of whom criticized Christianity and reaffirmed that this nation is secular.
