Depends on what we put in place. A Marxist Leninist revolution wouldn't be bad but we would need China's support to stop USA from "freedoming" the nation. Abbott's policy is unsurprising, it is typical liberal economics. Abbott believes in he can appeal to top 60% it doesn't matter because the poor people will starve to death. The Liberal party only does well because of the arrogance of the Australian middle class and the greed of the bourgeoisie.

"China's Support" Yeah because the Chinese are the primest example of Marxist-Leninist principles. The United States is our friend and ally, as are the Western-aligned European States and it is in our interest to maintain that.
The Liberal Party does well because when you use fear politics when in power, you're going to get votes from everyone, particularly those who are the least educated, i.e. the lower socio-economic people. That's why they are in power; that and Australian conservatism.

What is everyone's views on gay marriage? I am pro gay marriage but it won't get passed. Both parties are too conservative.

I'm pro-gay marriage and it won't get passed now in parliament, but in the planned plebiscite/referendum on the issue I think it will pass.

Actually, it's sad that Tassie doesn't have an AFL team. I mean QLD has two, and we don't even care, to you, it means the world (sports speaking) and you don't even have representation. I really hope tassie does get a team

So basically, the Victorian Police usually do these checks for drugs and stuff in the shadier districts of town. But recently, the VPF and a Group called Border Force announced they would be doing Melbourne wide checks, which would involve doing random checks for papers (ie passport, medicare card, things like that) and if they didn't have them, they could arrest them. There were large protests and the thing was cancelled. At least that's what I've heard in Queensland.

Not sure if the border police ever intended to stop people at random (they denied that's what they were doing and surely nobody could be that stupid) but there was definitely a push to crack down on "visa crime", which they didn't really define. Anyway, the public outrage combined with the backlash of members of the border force itself compelled the government/police to abandon the move.

Nice to see there's a large contingent of police and government servants who speak out against unethical behavior all the same.

To be honest (Considering that approximately 45% of our people down here are over the age of 60), I don't think there's a point in starting up a team here, I mean just not enough people play sports down here, that I know of, don't get me wrong, we like watching, just not playing.
