I have an idea for you, make it in P2TM. I have a strict policy of P2TM only.

The Speaker's resignation reflects a government that is in chaos. The Govt has lost its way, lost its majority and now lost its speaker.

Was it a sense of honour? No.
A sense of consistency, with how past Speakers have acted when such rorts become known (more on this later)? No.
Perhaps it was simply a desire to make it all go away? Not that either.
What forced Bishop out...was uncertainty over whether the Government had the numbers to keep her in office (76 votes required). Think on that a moment - the Government, which controls 90 out of 150 seats in the House of Representatives - was uncertain whether it could stop enough of its own people defecting to keep 76 votes on this issue....so then, and only then, did Kerosene Bronny resign.
On a related subject (consistency), place the following quote:The Speaker's resignation reflects a government that is in chaos. The Govt has lost its way, lost its majority and now lost its speaker.
Who said this, I wonder: a Labor commentator? No. A Labor or Green Member of Parliament? No. A member of the public? No.
The person who said this was...Tony Abbott, back in 2012 when he'd successfully hounded Peter Slipper out of office over $900 in improperly claimed taxi fares.
The double-standard is breathtaking: Besides one fraudulently claimed $5,227 expense (from Melbourne to attend a party fundraiser in Geelong - 65km away!), other abuses have emerged on Mrs. Bishop's part - $6,000 to attend a colleague's wedding, $88,000 for a two-week junket touring Europe (where she auditioned unsuccessfully for a nothingburger job, losing to the Bangladeshi candidate!), just over $6,000 to attend another party fundraiser, two weeks into the controversy no less, thousands of dollars for luxury limousines to attend the opera(!) - all this, at a time when Australia's poorest are being told to cut their belts and live in poverty!
And what was Tony Abbott's response? To defend his Speaker, his political mentor, at every turn - right up until it became clear he couldn't keep her in the job, at which point he cheerfully threw her under the bus.
If there's one take-away from this, it's that Tony Abbott is a unique blend of pomposity, aristocracy and pugnaciousness - and that every day he squats, toadlike, in the PM's office, is another disgrace upon Australia!
And while no-one might be as poisonous as Tony "The Captain" Abbott, the rest of the Liberal frontbench are hardly in a position to understand the financial problems of Joe or Jane Citizen.
Just look at Joe Hockey (Treasurer of Australia), who claims $50,000 per year in travel allowances for staying in his wife's Canberra home (one of the biggest and most lavish properties in Canberra, the taxpayer has generously paid the Hockeys its entire value in travel allowances over Mr. Hockey's tenure in Parliament!). Or Barnaby Joyce (Minister for Agriculture) or Julie Bishop (Foreign Minister), who each claimed $4,000 to return from a friend of a friend's wedding in India as official expenses (the friend in question, Gina Rinehart, gave them - free - a trip to India in her luxury jet to attend there...a gift which somehow failed to ever be declared by the pair of Ministers of the Crown as required by law). Or, for that matter, Tony Abbott himself - who claimed nearly $500,000 in the six months before he won the 2013 election and continues to claim tens of thousands of dollars annually in "official expenses" to attend and occasionally compete in athletic events.
I hope that the next Labor Government holds a Royal Commission into the illegal, unethical and downright corrupt dealings of the present rabble who occupy the Treasury benches!

I'm not sure what to think of this; I feel as though it's supposed to be some sort of insult consider it's Comic Sans, but it's a bad comparison, because we all know Strayan English is the best.Napkiraly wrote:I hear Australians have Internet. Is this true?
Apparently, yes my compatriots and I have access to some form of this "internet" thing. Apparently we will soon have speeds faster than...Romania.
