Mh, yeah, not happening.
If anything, they are trying to fathom the South's position if they take out Kim Kon-un and start a very slow process of reform, but nothing more than that.

It won't happen.

North Korea's not strong enough to defeat the Americans and the South Koreans in the field.

Even if North Korea could invade South Korea, they have no food to feed their armies...

Plus, they would be destroyed by the American/South Korean forces.

Remember the Korean War is technically ongoing as a peace treaty was never signed. There's been a truce since 1953 but both countries are still in a state of war with each other.

You know, it might actually be a reason for concern if North Korea wouldn't get trounced incredibly fast. They know it too, so I'd say nothing will happen.

If I had a dollar for every time DPRK issued a statement like this, I could quit both my jobs.

The WPK relies wholly on its ability to convince the public that there *is* in fact an ongoing war (if undeclared) and that the neverending struggle is to blame for power outages and food rationing in Pyongyang and outright famine and martial law in the provinces.

Ironically DPRK propaganda is often reflective of the true goings-on in the country: the more desperate and imminent the threat posed by the imperialist aggressors, the less stable (comparatively speaking) the circumstances are in Pyongyang. Publicizing preparation for grand unification, the whole basis of the WPK's existence, suggests a rhetorical effort to unify either disparate masses, warring intra-party factions, or perhaps both.

Can China or South Korea just annex North Korea already? You know when Iran thinks you've taken things too far you're messing up.

It's probably best if the two Korea's stay separate. One is a logical place and the other is a fucked up PSP trip.

I agree. There are so many possibilities, ranging from secret puppets of the North in the South, to the South genuinely being duped, but I think no conspiracies like that are happening. I think that this has been brewing for too long, and the kettle's about to blow.

In all seriousness, looking at KJU being out of sight, North Koreans just popping up in South Korea for talks, odd movements within North Korea, and this token exchange of fire, I think that what we're seeing is a reunification by 2015 without a "real" war.

I think what might go down is KJU and family are spirited away, then his family is spirited away, there is a "coup" of sorts but is really just a show, the Koreas have a fake war in which North Korea caves in, the Koreas reunify in the aftermath, and then the higher ups (including KJU and his extended family) are afforded some kind of "comfortable" asylum free of retribution (this would be easier than one might think simply by spinning it that this was the idea the entire time (which it might have been) and these steps had to play out).

Of course this is just my conjecture going on the news I am getting and talking with a singular Korean friend whose lived in the States well over a decade, so it might well be way off the mark.

When will people understand that all Koreans, both SK. and NK., are not trusting of China. To confuse them with a person from China is like an insult.

People its Russia and not China which today seems to have more influence in NK. It started with the Soviets. The NK, govt. model was though up personally by Stalin. When the Soviets fell there interest in NK. sort of fell to the side but they are once again interested in NK. Even more with Ukraine most likely going to the EU. and NATO in the future.

I have no doubts that Kim Jong-Un is actually stupid enough to try something like that. It'll be fun to squash his pathetic little country like an ant.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, when did all of this happen? I kind of stopped paying attention to the Koreas for a little while. Kim Jong Un incapacitated? Was an assassination attempt made or something?

I never said they were, I said why doesn't China annex them? Not "China and North Korea are best friends". I'm also aware there's plenty of good reasons why they don't but it was a jokey way of saying that the current government of North Korea really needs to go. I see your point but I think you failed to see mine. Thank you for enlightening me on that though I actually didn't know Stalin had that much influence there. You learn something new every day right?

Actually no surprisingly:
A:America has their planes in strategically weak positions that can be easily targeted.
B:NK is not as fragile as America says it is,it actually has enough food to feed the troops.
C:NK soldiers are very loyal to Kim.
D:American intel on NK is faulty AT BEST
E:America is trying to keep its citizens feeling safe by giving them false or falty info.
F:American tactics of penetration of defense will not work, due to a vastly strong defensive network and tunnels.

A. US aircraft are based at Osan AB or in Japan, out of range of North Korean Artillery
B. That doesn't mean it has enough to feed all of the troops in a strategically-prolonged conflict.
C. Loyal to the Kim dynasty as a whole, not just Un.
D. Faulty? The ROK provides most of the intelligence on North Korea, and they are really good at it.
E. Bullshit. More of the other way around.
F. You think we really haven't planned all of this out already, and know where their tunnels are?
Thank God for OS!- Deian

More info....
G:They have nukes, and a good 400 AT least at that.
H:They have aircraft that can do good dogfights, though are poor at long range.
I:They have THEIR aircraft in positions to counter ours.
J:Kim is willing to destroy America no matter what it takes.
K:If defeat is imminent,Kim will be willing to take out America with him.

You do know what BVR engagements are right? Dogfights rarely happen at best.
