It's a clip from a Houston news station, and it clearly demonstrates how police can conduct searches into your home or vehicle from the air without probable cause or a search warrant. But you're right, there's nothing police state-ish about this....

No, because the police could already do this if they wanted. Wouldn't be legal, but if a cop wanted to break into your house there's not a whole lot you could do about it. And guess what's gonna happen the first time the cops try to use evidence they got with these drones in court? Gets ruled in inadmissible and some guy gets off the hook.

Meh, if you have nothing to hide you won't mind it. For me being the center of attention soothes my egotism and all the cops will ever find is ecchi anyways.

what a vacuous thing to say as this will fly over private property (not that I'm going to say its an invasion of privacy as its the police but if I did this some spoil sport would shoot it down :( )

Yet another erosion of our civil liberties, thanks to our growing police state.

Is this supposed to be new, my master? For years they have had the right to bug wherever they wish, they are allowed to commit search and seizure with no warrant and little probable cause, they have tapped phones, they track computers, and they torture.

Yes, we are giving up personal freedoms for security. It is the natural cycle of things, and I believe that we are heading fast down the path of the Roman Empire. *sigh* And in my lifetime too, what a drag...

I fail to see how this drone is any different then police using a helicopter.

You don't own the sky.

Also - I advise you not to look up. Apparently, aircraft already fly over private property.

Who knew?

If privacy is your concern you should keep your curtains closed all the time, as the police can silently walk to looking distance of your window anyways.

I dunno, what about Adams being an arsehole with the Alien and Sedition Acts only a decade and a half into the US' existence? Not like this kind of fad for spying on the general public and treating them as criminals doesn't occassionally become fashionable.

Pics or it didn't happen.

You are probably the closest NS has to an actual celebrity. I don't think we have any other NSers who have had insturments played off any part of their body, much less their heads... and certainly not for such popular shows.

There is no information this device can gain then is already available via plain clothes officers on foot, unmarked helicopter, or in cars. the police do not have to announce themselves until they are on your property.
