For me to explain why God exists would take so much time, the thread would be locked.

We've been discussing that for 500 pages. So far, your side has yet to put fortune evidence.

Even, if religion is not required in order to do good things, atheists don't have a rational basis for doing moral things.

Well Whoopty fucking doo.You just made a good point. Maybe we do good things because we believe we'll end up in heaven...
no... Oh right, we don't believe in god enough to care.
Atheists don't blame their actions on anything or anyone else. They do good because the care, and they do bad because they want to. I'm sick and fucking tired of you christians making us look like a bunch of mobsters who care about nothing but money and sex.

I don't look at Atheists that way. I look at them as people with... Flaws, just like everyone else.

The bible is not proof that god exists. It's just an account, one that can't be verified and the vast majority of it claims can be disproved and has been disproved with science.

I would like to note for a moment that after reading the bible twice. I have since personally burned at least 300 of them. I'm using one as free toilet paper atm. Churches tend to give them out for free when you tell them your desperate to bring Jesus back into your life.

I'm not going to waste my time begging.

Decisions should not be made based solely on the text in a book. Especially a book in which many of it's readers will openly admit that parts of it should not be taken literally.

We don't need one. You, however, need to be threatened.

Also, is it bad because God says so, or does God say so because it's bad?

Let me put it this way. I'm Christian, but I use science to support/debunk some things in the bible.

I'm gonna bail on this thread now, need to get some rest and the dude that was claiming he had evidence has now withdrawn after it was suggested he provide it. As usual, there is no evidence. Just BS claims. How disappointing.

I have to comment on this one before I leave. What have you been able to determine with science that support the existence of God, and how can you take the rest of the bible seriously when you already know many parts of it are false. You cannot respond with Faith. Saying you have faith ONLY confirms that you believe in something without proof. It does not provide a reason for believing in something.

Neither do most Christians. They do good, too, because they care, not because they fear hell.

There can be no evidence for or against God that is scientific anyway, can there?

See, this is actually the best answer to the question - but it isn't actually an answer to the question.

What you believe does't count as evidence, or vouch for the objective truth of a thing. If I believe that my body is operated by tiny little imps that live inside me, it doesn't mean that's the true explanation, or the best explanation, or even a good one.

But that's also why it's the best answer - it accepts we can't actually provide any objective evidence, so it just discusses what you personally believe.
