What is your view on male circumcision?

I'm against it, unless it is done for medical reasons, because it is an unnatural mutilation and completely unnecessary. It has its origin in Jewish and Muslim religion, although a majority of people from the USA still mistakenly believe circumcision is required for genital hygiene.

Since abandoning Christianity, I really don't see the point of circumcision. I'd have to do some research on it before I make a full decision. As of this point, I'm not for it or against. If I were to have boy at this time, I'd probably have him circumcised just because I am. Keep things consistent.

In my belief,I think people are opposed to it because of all the botched pros that were made back in the 30s,that and they point to Europe and how we rarely circumcise our boys.

but it''s not a regular medical procedure in most of the world. the only reason it's so common is due to cultural factors, as it is a completely unnecessary procedure. pretty much as a result of when doctors first started doing it to try and stop masturbation in america. they might have been wrong, but the intent as there, and now most people just go with it. it's also not a coincidence that most english language studies that support it come from america and most opposed to it come from elsewhere, one could almost say they're just doing it for cultural reasons in 99% of cases and opposition/support lines up around culture as well.

and it happens that a lot of people think you should let people grow up and decide for themselves, instead of doing an unnecessary medical procedure because, i quote previous threads, "everyone else does it and they might get bullied" or "i got it so i want my son to get it" or "it helps prevent infections sometimes (or you could just, you know, wash regularly)"

It does increase genital hygiene,but in today's modern world,that pro is kinda gone,though calling it mutilation is a bit dramatic.

True,but a recent survey has shown that 90% of circumcised men never missed the foreskin,so its kinda harmless,sorta like removing tonsils,but I can see your point.

I wouldn't ban it. Consenting adults should be able to mutilate themselves as they please. Infants, however, should not.

In my case the doctor fucked up in the opposite way and removed way more skin (more than just the foreskin) on one side than the other. Which makes it look lopsided and stupid.

It should be banned from being done on infants. I'd like to say it should only be allowed for those 18 or older or on minors for medical reasons, but a part of me thinks adolescents/young teens ought to be able to give their consent.
