Which is far more unlikely than you may think. Mutation is a very random process, and to become airborne, a specific set of genes would have to mutate, and even then they would have to mutate in a certain way.

However, by 2012, research showed that as many as 579,000 people could have been killed by the disease, as only those fatalities confirmed by laboratory testing were included in the original number, and meant that many of those without access to health facilities went uncounted. The majority of these deaths occurred in Africa and Southeast Asia. Experts, including the WHO, have agreed that an estimated 284,500 people were killed by the disease, much higher than the initial death toll.[30][31][32]

While Swine Flu wasn't very deadly, it had an advantage that Ebola didn't have, that it can infect a lot of damn people very quickly, speaking from personal experience.

First reported transmission of Ebola outside of Africa.

Never seems to end - to think countries actually made a big fuss about SARS when it affected a much smaller group of people.

I really do think the response here is wholly inadequate - even by WHO.

All right! EBOLA was caught! New Pokedex data will be added for EBOLA!

I'm really not sure what else you want people to do other than refrain from bringing Ebola patients to Spanish hospitals that don't have adequate containment procedures. People are working to deal with the mess in West Africa, but there is only so much you can do if the locals don't cooperate and the existing hospitals suck.

I was at OR Tambo International not long ago. Especially now that Zimbabwe's worried about Ebola in their own borders, we're tightening up on security. It's been proposed that all travelers coming from the affected areas be barred from entering RSA unless they have a signed doctor's note declaring them free of the virus.

If it can work it's probably worth it. The attending physician puts his name and reputation on the line by signing that note, so he'll make damn sure the guy really is OK.

As far as I understand there's around 50 people being interned in the hospitals because of the Ebola thing.

The nurse that was in observation has tested twice negative to Ebola and it is more likely she has another sort of infection and not Ebola like initially thought. Her husband is also being kept in close observation after having close contact with his wife.

A man who came to Spain from Nigeria is also testing negative. They will make another test to make sure.
