Weeks ago, no-one would believe me. Whelp.

It's sad, really. Thomas could've been stopped! Why didn't the U.S Government BAN flights from those areas?

There's no reason to overreact. This is hardly a disastrous or even mildly bad development.

Really? It's an (Somewhat) inescapable loop-hole now. Trust me--it's only worst from here on out. We should! BAN! Until further notice, of course. Only operational/military flights allowed to Liberia, Sierra Leone, etc.

Seriously. It SHOULD happen. They are thinking about it, already. You know what I say? TOO LATE.

How is it an inescapable loophole? You can't just throw statements out and not substantiate them.

And it will never be too late. Even if every single person on the planet were infected, people would survive. The human race has survived far worse.

Yes, it has. What I mean by an 'inescapable loophole,' is that it will keep coming. It will. Ending flights is the only way. Now, I never said we should stop aiding them. THOUGH, to make a point, when did the U.S become the "world police?" Protect our own, first. Who cares if they can't get in? It ain't drastic.

And we will deal with it as it keeps coming. And do you really think westerners are going to keep catching Ebola in West Africa after all this? They know what to look out for now. And it's not as if we're helpless in the face of this virus.

I'm glad you're so willing to abandon people who needn't be abandoned.

Two people in the U.S. with Ebola.

IT'S AN EPIDEMIC!!!!!1111ONEELEVEN
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

Stop flights to West Africa? What would that accomplish? If you meant flights from West Africa, even that is unneeded, as now that we are aware of the crisis, we can look for Ebola on incoming flights. And we can ask for Ebola all we want; it is not going to spread very rapidly within the US.

Our people don't need help. They get flown back home to world-class hospitals. The people who really need help are the west Africans.

No, we can't. What if they aren't showing symptoms? Huh? If we STOP flights, we can have MORE time to focus on them! Plus, what about us!? A beautiful, successful nurse is going die. She had a chance at life, and because we didn't stop flights from West Africa, she's dying!

They will almost always be showing symptoms when it is relevant. From Wiki:

"The symptoms limit a person's ability to spread the disease as they are often too sick to travel during the infectious stages of the progression of the disease."

We are at low risk of ever catching the disease because of our medical technology. Again, from Wiki:

"The potential for widespread EVD infections in countries with medical systems capable of observing the correct medical isolation procedures where needed is considered low as the disease is only spread by direct contact with the secretions from someone who is showing signs of infection."

And we can multitask, dude. There's no reason we can't check airline passengers and focus on infected persons. Also, please cease with the appeal to emotion bullshit.

Using knee-jerk emotional reactions to gauge situations is useless. We solve problems only by remaining calm and assessing the situation rationally. There's a reason you're told to "stay calm" during an emergency.

What are your objections to Wikipedia? Saying "Really?" doesn't count. Wiki cites sources, in case you hadn't noticed.

Who can an infect 3-5 more people and so on so forth. It's good not to overreact, which a number of people are doing, but it isn't also a good idea to not take this seriously and act with precaution.

That said, Ebola has possibly the shittiest way of transmitting so once again it can be easily contained and quarantined.
