Of course, you very well could be Messianic and ethnically Jewish for all I know, which means you would be a(n ethnic) Jew regardless of your faith.
While I am neither Jewish nor Messianic, I always thought the Messianics got too much flack. I can completely understand a Jewish person wanting to convert to Christianity while still maintaining their culture and heritage.
See, you kind of pointed out the quirk with Messianic Judaism in what you said: It is more or less a conversion to Christianity. So, again, while I do appreciate the maintenance of Jewish customs and traditions, Messianic Judaism is not really Judaism so much as it is Christianity.
