Yes, this is the thread to discuss Jews and Judaism for Jews and gentle gentiles alike.

I suppose we could start of talking about Rosh HaShannah and the New year (5775 baby).

So NSG's Jews (and Gentiles) how will you be spending your holiday?

I am going up to my Yeshivah to observe it there... I hope it will be invigorating.

Not getting a holiday here for Rosh HaShannah. In the past I used to pay a visit to the stands the Milanese Jewish community puts up in some city squares - they used to offer refreshments and some good talk about history and religions - but this year I won't, because of the boycott of the Israeli singer Noa organised by the Adei-Wizo-Donne ebree d’Italia (Jewish Women of Italy) : they cancelled her planned concert in Milan, which was to be held on October, 27th. Noa's fault? Opposing Netanyahu's policies.

Maybe some people need to be remembered that being Jewish is one thing and supporting all the policies of the Israeli government is another.

According to Judaism, your mother must be Jewish in order for you to be Jewish.

Now for instance if your friend chose to take up Judaism and walk in the ways of God's Torah, he would have to convert.

Whereas if his mother was Jewish, he would not.

I will not add non Jewish... I was Karaite and reconstructionist are a go red leader.
