I am personally fond of the names Edward, Cedric, and Axel for boys. For girls I like the names Mary, Elizabeth and Sophia.

It's unlikely I'll ever have kids, though I may adopt with a partner, in which case they may already be named. If I have a choice in the naming, it will be something very mainstream, like John, Jane, Mary or Michael.

A long time ago, I had my own website (well before free blog services like Blogger or Tumblr, and even Xanga didn't exist when I got started) and my favorite topics were how much I hated children and hated the bad parents who raised them even more. I've softened my views on children since then, I've been even harder on parents, and one opinion that has not changed since then was that people who get creative with their kids' names are the worst parents. Giving your kid a "creative" name takes a lot less effort as an outlet for individuality than buying them books or a chemistry set.

My brother and I were named Andrew and Tom. My parents encouraged reading almost as soon as we could talk, encouraged us to explore the world around us, not allowing a lot of television when we were very young. It was hard to go out without being complimented on our good behavior. My cousin gave her kids more "unique" names, one of which is more suitable as a family rather than a given name. They are 13 and 11 now, but you would think by how they talk that they are far younger. Neither of them know how to behave and as of a year ago, the younger one still thinks it's appropriate to turn on the waterworks when he doesn't get what he wants. The television and any number of activities they are scheduled for so my cousin doesn't actually have to deal with them are what actually seems to raise them (I'm sure every normal kid wants his free time filled with baseball, scouts, soccer, football, Irish dance...). Sadly, this seems pretty typical of modern parents, since developing a truly unique person takes time and effort. It's easier to saddle them with a ridiculous name, and schedule every free waking hour with an activity and hope the hive raises them right.
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

For a boy, I'd be conflicted between Augustus, Hermann, Rodolfo, or Wolfe.

For a girl, it'd be between Grace, Maria, or Octavia.

Since kids aren't in my foreseeable future, I'm not sure. But, if I do have kids, I'll probably name them after a family member or a role model.
