My first daughter would be Eowyn, and my first son would be David, although I'm flexible on that. David could be a middle name too.

Not to me. It's more like an aesthetic title than anything, I don't even like being referred solely by it.

Neither is it in the case of about all of my relatives who have double names.

Then again, first names in Portuguese often are those with four letters and often a single syllable.

Eh, it depends on the person I guess. I know some people who prefer to be called by their middle name by itself, or in combination with their first name. I prefer first names, myself :P
