But "Which Country/Union of Independent Nations working together for economic benefit is poised to be the next superpower by 2050?" is a clunky title.

By 2050? The US will defintily stay the Superpower, Russia will fall back to third place, and China will rise to 2nd place.

Maybe at 2100+ China will finally overcome the US. However, I honestly don't think most of us, unless you're pretty young like me, will see that day.

This thread doesn't seem new to me. But, I can not say with certainty what the "next" superpower will be, or if the status quo is maintained. It all depends on the developments, and 2050 is another 36 years away, and god knows what could happen in-between. I dare not give a prediction on this one.

Global Fire Power.

Geopolitical Superpower =/= who has the most military spending.

By that logic countries like Egypt and Iran have more influence than Germany or Japan.

The international proletarian confederation will be the 'superpower' in 2050 :D kidding... sort of.

I think the USA's international empire is already crumbling. Invasion after invasion, coup after coup is exposing America around the world to be a greedy tyrant who destabilises regions for the profit of a small domestic oligarchy. Obama is choosing not to send troops to Iraq because not only is ISIL largely the fault of American activity in the region to begin with thus it would cause more problems, but also because he knows that another invasion could just prove to be the catalyst to a mass movement against the hellish inequality and exploitation that is neoliberalism. Occupy, but this time we'd be serious. It's coming eventually anyway, but Obama knows it could come sooner if he sends boots to Iraq to fight ISIL. Remember the march on London against the Iraq invasion? Well this time people are a lot more p*ssed off!

The American Empire, or global leadership, globo-cop or whatever euphemism the right-wing media is using this week, it's empire will collapse within the next 50 years. Hopefully along with this will evolve a more altruistic and communitarian based socio-economic model, but we'll wait and see.

Either China or India if not both, I'd be surprised if the US hadn't broken into multiple countries by 2050.

There will be probably China, India, and the US in 2050, but after that, given the seismic shift in the world from 2060-2100, there won't be any superpowers, only great powers.

If China deals with their massive housing bubble before it causes another global depression, then they'll be the largest nation economically speaking.

Japan is going to continue to gain strength, and so will South Korea.

Russia, due to Putin's carelessness, may fall into economic depravity, but I'm not sure about it yet.

America will still be a top contender, and will have the most powerful and bloated military in the world, but won't be able to boast about being #1 anymore.

Europe, if they end up making some supermassive economic alliance with EU policy and stuff, may also combine all their mediocre economies into a larger one that has a bigger slice of pie.

Also, the Middle East will, if alternative energy like solar, wind, and nuclear begin to take hold, start losing their wealth due to the declining need for oil.

Africa has a long way to go, due to the constant social and political struggle.

This is the third time you make a thread about this subject. Don't you get tired? Or do you just want people to reaffirmate your belief that the US will remain the world's superpower by 2050? For fuck's sake.
