Ann Coulter is hardly qualified to speak on the issue.

Nobody's gonna come at you for saying black person. You will be subjected to extreme hostility if you advocate creationism, but you will almost certainly not be killed.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

You know that you are in a class room to be edified? You see no reason that people might learn at least something from hearing a student mention creationism? Maybe, they could learn the proof that it is wrong? Maybe they could just see opposing viewpoints? Are you so authoritarian and thin skinned that you can't allow yourself to hear other views, even for edification?

You can if they let you. If the teacher doesn't feel like letting you, you don't really have any legal recourse. Because you don't have the right to free speech in school. Not to the same degree that you would outside it.

More than that, if you have something so amazing that you need to share with your class, go publish an academic paper about it. Don't waste other people's time. Classrooms are for instructions, not a pulpit. If you publish an accepted academic paper you get to be able to change how the lesson is instructed in ALL classrooms.

I should note Jumalariik it is politically incorrect to call someone insane, because insanity is a something which originates in courts of law, thus having no acceptable bounds within psychological usage let alone identity or the internet.

It seems like it's gotten to the point where true individuality is no longer accepted. You HAVE to be accepting of everyone, you HAVE to not hold any negative views on practically anything. Basically it's an intolerance of intolerance. God forbid somebody think we're not all the same. And really, we aren't. I have black hair, you may not. I have brown eyes and skin, you may not. I am Catholic, may not be Catholic. Why does someone have to sell their business if they voice their own beliefs? I've heard this phrase too many times: "There needs to be a national conversation on _____". Well, how can you have such a conversation if you condemn everything that isn't your specific view as bigotry and hate? If we simply shun people for their beliefs, we'll never get anywhere. We need to look into why people see certain things in certain ways.

Sorry for this paragraph not being well organized; I'm just jotting down what came to mind.

Jumalariik wrote:Yes. Political correctness at all is too far.

Political correctness is the idea of limiting any forms of action or expression that exclude, oppress or single out other groups. By definition, that idea is reactionary and by definition, it will always be used by established powers to attack the lower classes. It is politically incorrect to call people who insane, insane. It is politically incorrect not to be attracted to trans people. It is politically incorrect to not be attracted to fat people. The people who understand and agree with this are either 1. idiots. 2. crazy, or 3. they have the intent of using it to cause problems to people who are threats to them, i.e. people not indoctrinated into their bullshit. The people who know political correctness enough to be truly politically correct are invariably thin skinned and are usually tied in with academia, a reactionary institution. Those who do not understand it are those who are not educated (indoctrinated) into this system of beliefs, usually people with not enough money/leisure to spend it on college, thus, poorer people are less able to conform to this reactionary institutional viewpoint, thus, they are continually going to be put down by thin-skinned Machiavellian academic assholes.
The other obvious problem is that it makes the focus of everything on gender, thus isolating people's minds from the truly important realms of race and class. Political correctness does not seek as an ideology to subvert the current order, simply to tweak it, or more accurately, to tweak the subjects of the current order, the working class.

Now you see how I feel.

Since when has anyone argued that you should be attracted to trans people or to fat people?

People who are actual adults understand the difference between a preference and prejudice. A preference doesn't have to be prejudice, but a prejudice can be a preference.
