This is a thread for not-political discussion.

So in order to return to that narrative, I have decided I am going to replace my AimPoint Micro H1 on my SBR with an EOTech EXPS3-0 and see which of the two I prefer. I do not like the EOTech's auto-off (although it is probably much less of an issue than I am making it out to be), the brightness adjustment, which again I can just get used to, or its battery life. However, the glass has no distortion at its edges, no tint, and the new EOTechs apparently do not experience any parallax issues (0MOA shift) at 100m, and noticeably less parallax issues closer than that than Trijicons or even AimPoints experience. This might explain why I zeroed my lower-1/3 cowitnessed iron sights by themselves, then zeroed my AP H1 by itself, and when aiming with both, the dot is not actually aligned with the irons: parallax due to lens curvature.

We'll see how the EOTech does. It would also mean every accessory on my rifle uses CR123A batteries, so I guess that might also be considered a pro?

Have they addressed the issues with heat fluctuation shifting zero?

Honestly, I've used the HWS for years now and not once have I ever noticed a shifting zero.

Why skimp out on a wooden ram rod? They replaced as soon as any decent trooper could get a hand on a Prussian made iron rod. How will you else will you achieve any more than 4 rounds a minute.

Also what's with that unpoliced wire hanging off the laser pointer? How can you properly fire information with that thing hanging off?

At any rate, still toying around with the idea of legally bypassing the stupid fucking hunting laws in my new state, which only allow "Black powder/Muzzle loading" rifles and not more practical modern cartridges, due to "hunter safety" bullshit. Thinking of doing so, by buying a Sharps rifle and hand loading paper patch cartridges for it, which as far as I can tell via Googlefu research, should meet all the legal definitions while allowing me to use a more practical and reliable round.

Maybe I've just had too much free time to think stuff up lately.

Wooden ramrods were pretty standard on naval issue muzzle loaders. Stops it rusting to the hoops in storage.
