I don't know much about guns and I've never shot one but a 44. Magnum is my favorite. They look so badass especially with the wooden handle.

I'm sensing an "U.S. Marshals" movie reference.
Although the pistol in the movie was a Taurus PT945.

I've never considered hand pain and lugging a massive cinder block of a gun around to be amusing.

That's why I will be prepared for the boar-zombie apocalypse and you will not.

This is why every school in America should teach a firearms safety class. Just like we teach sex ed. A one week or one day or however long your school wants session. Cover the four basic rules. Watch accidental firearms deaths drop like a rock over the next 20 years.

But if you teach children about guns in school then un-specified bad stuff will happen because guns are bad...

If New Jersey can do boating safety courses for 5th graders, there's no reason why they can't do gun safety courses.

No but pools do. Accidental drownings kill as many children in the US as do guns.

Of course we recommend swimming lessons for all kids. But not gun safety no that would be too far.

You are absolutely right. Boats do not kill people, the people behind the wheel driving or using them improperly are the ones who end up accidentally or purposely harming others.

Just like with firearms.

Do you feel that same way when you hear something like "knife-violence" or "knife-crime" from a country that restricts gun ownership?

I would make the same face at that as well. It's a fucking stupid phrase and it needs to stop.

Why? It's an accurate description of the act?

This is a thread for not-political discussion.

So in order to return to that narrative, I have decided I am going to replace my AimPoint Micro H1 on my SBR with an EOTech EXPS3-0 and see which of the two I prefer. I do not like the EOTech's auto-off (although it is probably much less of an issue than I am making it out to be), the brightness adjustment, which again I can just get used to, or its battery life. However, the glass has no distortion at its edges, no tint, and the new EOTechs apparently do not experience any parallax issues (0MOA shift) at 100m, and noticeably less parallax issues closer than that than Trijicons or even AimPoints experience. This might explain why I zeroed my lower-1/3 cowitnessed iron sights by themselves, then zeroed my AP H1 by itself, and when aiming with both, the dot is not actually aligned with the irons: parallax due to lens curvature.

We'll see how the EOTech does. It would also mean every accessory on my rifle uses CR123A batteries, so I guess that might also be considered a pro?

Seriously? The coined phrase emotively conveys the blame is placed on the tool instead of the person wielding the tool.
A knife is incapable of being violent, nor can a knife cause crime, but a knife can be used in conjunction to a violent act or in the commission of a crime.
Blaming an object instead of the actor is lazy and dishonest, ergo, it's a fucking stupid phrase and needs to stop.
