Plus having one rebuilt. I don't think the allies left either one/any intact.

I think the schtick on the SPAS-12 (and the much rarer mag fed SPAS-15) is that it can switch from pump action to semi auto.
I dunno if its true or not, but apparently the design impetus was to give LEO a weapon that could use the pump-action for less-than-lethal ammo (beanbags, rubber bungs, etc) that often didn't have enough power to properly cycle the semi auto action, and if they needed to switch to regular 12 gauge shells with semi auto, they could.
KelTec now makes an interesting shotgun that is semi auto, but has a pump action allowing it to switch between two independent feeding tubes, so you can switch ammo on the fly.
Well, most people are probably more into the looks of the gun, so getting an overfolding stock, enlarged pump, and extended mad tube should probably make "close enough".

That's like saying getting an external charging handle, wood furniture, and a piston conversion kit for an AR-15 makes it look "close enough" to an AK. No amount of Mossberg or Remington modifications will make it look remotely close to a SPAS-12.
That said, the SPAS-12 is a shotgun I have handled on two occasions. I also know a few owners who shoot theirs. They are all hype, no performance. $2k display piece since the internals can break and cause malfunctions such as firing when placed on safe. A lot of guys also don't like using them as pump-actions because doing so will ruin the heat shield's finish with the material-on-material rubbing. The fixed stocks look goofy, so no one gets those, and the popular, folding stocks absolutely suck to shoulder and fire.
If you've got $2k to spend on something that you probably won't shoot, then by all means get one. If you want a pump/semi convertible shotgun worth actually using, look into a Benelli M3.

A very nice gun for concealed carry, one question... does it have a bayonet mount?
On second thought, 800mm ammo is probably expensive...
Bayonet mount? Well, if you want me to load up the gun with all of the swords you can find (and stick them together), I guess so!
Also, in my "Empire," 800mm ammo would not be expensive, as my currency is made of bones, and bones are quite easy to obtain.

Good one. For my republic, I shall follow suit and develop my favorite gun also.

So do you use it to massacre political dissidents?
