Yup. And they’re still crafted handmade today in the Philippines for sport shooting and hunting (because it’s going to be pretty hard using a single-shot slam-fire for self-defense).

I was actually joking around when I wrote the long post about frequent jams and misfires, as videos show they’re actually quite remarkably reliable.

Interestingly enough, I know a fellow who was there guerillaing Japanese in Luzon.

Well, knew, he has passed now.

I knew a guy who was in Vietnam, but he died from Agent Orange related cancer some years back.

As a Filipino, we’re proud of our culture and we’re proud of our guns.

Ah. That explains it. People are idiots. Sights don't affect how far a bullet goes, the propellant does.

Not me, but the M4 was owned by my best mate’s father, who served as an Air Force mechanic in Desert Storm. I really enjoyed it, the gun just felt smoother than I thought t would, and I tied for first in terms of hit targets so it left a good impression of the gun on me.

The military isn't in the habit of selling soldiers their weapons. Likely you shot an AR built to look like an M4. My Bushmaster is one of them. I personally prefer the A1 or A2 look.

Quick way to tell the difference between an AR-15 and an M4/M16.

Is the person holding it in a military uniform?

If yes, it's an M4/M16. If no, it's an AR-15.
