Nice, but I am still going for a PTR91 or an AR10. I might pick up a .223 AR down the line. Hell, I might just buy an AR15 as a birthday gift for my baby sister. 8)

Maybe it's the lighting, but why does it look like someone took a steel wool pad to the side of that rifle?

Umm...the latter are also breech-loading.

Edit: I believe the term you are looking for is "bolt action".

That's the one.

It is probably the shipping grease just being splotchy.

I myself for no real logical reasoning besides weight love the M249 and would like to try a similar concept for my nation on here. Mostly like it because i can at least semi efficiently use it standing, kneeling or in the prone.

Ive heard plenty of good things but never gotten to shoot it. Ive shot no military foreign weapons only US and civilian firearms.

I love bolt actions as well, whether they served in large conflicts, or are unique pieces of engineering I love them all.

Never liked a bolt-action rifle, in my opinion they are a pain the ass. I keep forgetting that I have to manually operate the mechanism for each round fired.

I realise the majority of posters are American and have real guns, but out of curiosity - does anyone here collect blank ones ?

Cannot beat a bolt action rifle for accuracy at long distance shots. I love my .338 lapua for such long range shots.

Many people who do reenactments are using blank guns, for obvious reasons.

I'm interested in another use they have. In some European countries they're allowed for sale with less-lethal cartridges for self-defence. There aren't many reviews online for some of the pistols I'm after and I'd be interested to know if someone here has experience with these weapons.

Why the fuck would you want a less lethal round for self defense?

That makes about as much sense as wiping before you poop.

You can't go wrong with a 10/22. They are reliable, and also very easy to configure how you want it.
Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

Small caliber rounds, 50 round mag, and close to the body as its sub machine gun, carbine hybrid by today's standards.

.22 lr are all but extinct out here in Oregon. I managed to pickup 5 or 6 boxes of 50 rounds in the last year (and that was sheer dumb luck). My Marlins are starving to death :(

Yeh, I've gotten that far.

Question now is whether I should look secondhand or new, and 10/22 carbine or 10/22 target.

The target has a bull barrel on it.
