Sure, the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments are bullshit (because I know that's what people who say things like that are referring to).

The sole difference between this discussion being held on an American website and on a Soviet website (in a weird, Archeresque alternate history where time and technology are more or less irrelevant) is the presence of diversity in opinion.

First of all, that was the result of the anti-religious drive of the 1930s, which was instigated by Stalin, and then was completely reversed after WW2 (also by Stalin). After 1945, things got increasingly better for religion in the Soviet Union, and by the Brezhnev era the leader of the USSR was not opposed to having his picture taken with the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church. Sharing a drink.

Secondly, even during the height of anti-religious persecution in the 1930s, the targets were senior clergy and church buildings, not the regular average Christian. Religion was always legal, and organized religious institutions were always allowed to operate, even though during some periods they were severely restricted in what they could do. The USSR restricted religion. It did not ban it.

Just like Russia did?

Politically and culturally, the Russian Federation is extremely different from the Soviet Union. Post-Soviet Russia deliberately set about doing the opposite of what the Soviets were doing, on many issues. These days, Russia has immense economic inequality and a low flat tax, among other things.

They did keep the authoritarianism, though.

It's not leaching off the government, it's the government giving you the ability to make a living, in exchange, you produce material for it, and in exchange for that, you get free healthcare, subsidized housing, and your children get free education and heavily subsidized college.

I don't like the idea of being entitled to things. You've got to work hard to achieve success, and build from the ground up.

That's nigh impossible. Did you teach yourself to read, found your own business, supply your own raw materials, etc.? You need education and work to succeed.

American system. No matter which leader the 'Soviets' had the end results were always bad especially for the "people" that the system claimed to unify with.

How were the end results bad? Do you think the Tsar would have been better? Take a look at the improvements the USSR made over its history.

Yes, and people should make a living off of education, I should be allowed to select what school by determining factors of quality, etc. I go to a private school, thus why I support capitalist ideas.
