Evolution (and abiongenesis, Cosmology, etc) vs Creationism

So since we can't seem to keep it out of the Abortion thread I decided to make this thread...again. So all what's your opinion on evolution by natural selection and creationism. Considering all the scientific evidence backing evolution (and the other fields) I believe it to be the best possible explanation given the evidence. On the other hand, there is no evidence for creationism. So all, what do you think

Mmm, the smell of a fresh thread!

First, the title seems kind of slanted unfairly. It's like every type of science versus Creationism. (That's simply not true)

Evolution v. Creationism would do, I think.

I believe in God. I also believe in evolution.

Considering creationism contains the creation of the universe as well as the creation of life, I thought I should cover those same fields. Cosmology deals with the formation of the universe, abiogenesis with the formation of life, and evolution with the diversification of life.

Obviously, I'm a staunch believer in the scientific fact that humans evolved.

I was trying to keep it out of another thread. Please don't blame it.

Evolution is backed by all modern science. Creation is backed by no modern science. Besides, even if evolution were disproven, that doesn't automatically make creation right.

The theory of evolution is science.
Creation is myth.
Anything more to be said? I don't think so.

Applying theistic occams razor, and the facts pertaining to evolution plus the proof for it I believe you know my answer.

But the other thread was an abortion thread...having an evolution argument happen in an abortion thread is like a two-fer! If we could have thrown a Republican/Democrat argument and one about guns in there it would have been a perfect storm of well tread topics all contained in one thread! The mega-thread to end all mega threads!

Too many exclamation points...that can't be a good sign.

The internet is performing an abortion clearly.

I think Creationism is very possible, just not the way it was laid out in the bible.

My opinion really doesn't matter that much. The fact of the matter is that all the evidence points towards a naturalistic universe in which life and the cosmos evolved according to the laws of physics. No gods, no miracles, no fairies at the bottom of the garden. Simple as that.

But the thread will still have several pages by the end of the hour. Of course 1/3rd of them will be snarky self satisfied posts attacking the existence of the thread in the first place >.>

Then how do you think it occurred and what evidence do you have?

I fully support evolution and abiogenesis, because that appears to be a scientific fact. The fact that it happens to be the position of my religion also has something to do with it.

Well, due the rather obvious quantities of raw scientific evidence supporting evolution, I side with it.

Well, the origin of life and the changes in life are really two different arguments.

We know that mutations can take place and continue through generations, and we don't have any evidence of anyone guiding species development through the hundreds of millions of years of complex life, so I tend to view evolution as the more likely explanation for the changes.

For the origin, I'm also doubtful of a creator. After all, even if WE were created by something, that creator had to first originate. Did that creator have a creator or just happen? If a creator, then what was IT'S origin?

I did once, and then I gradually accepted Creation truths. Yes, even I used to believe in evolution and an old universe (though I have always believed in God).

I think God created the universe and then evolution/time took its course. I'll take faith for $500.
