No, no. Attraction to animals to either zoophilia or bestiality. No idea what attraction to objects is called.

Wouldn't that be Rocopurr on gender identity? Because that is exactly how I feel.

Imo, lgbt people should be afforded the same rights as everyone else. As a gay person, I know firsthand that discrimination isn't fun (and neither is heteronormativity - so just a tip, don't assume someone is straight because they don't look or act stereotypically gay).

Gay & Male. And I'm not in any way stereotypically "gay" or "camp" or whatever OOC, so I understand exactly what you're saying about the heteronormativity shit.

In all honesty, there really shouldn't be any differences in the treatment of gay or otherwise not heterosexual people, by the state or indeed by society in general. We're all human beings and frankly life is too short for bigotry and intolerance.

In terms of recent events, I was delighted to see same-sex marriage adopted by England & Wales this year, which means people like me are on equal footing with everyone else with regard to marriage - and it's coming soon in Scotland too. One of the biggest hurdles remaining is the one year deferral on all gay men giving blood - i.e. they have to be celibate for a year before being able to donate, even if they practice safer-sex, yet heterosexual people who have risky sex and don't take precautions are not similarly deferred, which is a huge injustice.

I'm also happy to hear that some of the bans on same-sex marriage in the US are gradually being overturned - even if it means a court has to do it. However events in Russia and some Eastern European countries are worrying.

So the picture is mixed, but I'm certain that one day we'll get to a place where people can all be treated equally, regardless of their gender, orientation, ethnicity etc. But that's just me being optimistic :)

It looks that way, at least in developed nations/the west.

And that totally pisses me off because they blame the gays for AIDS and it's not necessarily our fault whatsoever. We're the scapegoat. Because straight men and women who have frequent risky sex are just as likely to get AIDS as a gay man or woman and it's just complete BS that they do that.

Yeah, it's stupid. People shouldn't base policy on stigma, instead of facts.

Well it's understandable considering we're still beholden to a policy injustice that's based on outdated perceptions - not hard facts - which of course show that risky sexual behaviour among heterosexuals is just as likely to spread HIV as it is among homosexuals.

Well I'm sad to hear that, but hopefully as people become more enlightened and less prejudiced in general, we'll see more positive change - on both sides of the pond - but especially in the US.
