Hey, Othelos!
I found another... umm... double standard in my logic (this relates to the subject at hand). My son is 7. He still whines on occasion to sleep with us. It infuriates me because I think he is too old to do that. Exceptions exist of course - nightmares, sick, etc etc. But, the other night, he was whining about sleeping with us again and I realized that, if we had a girl instead of a boy, I'd have no issue with her sleeping with us.
It makes me so uncomfortable that I cannot sleep when my son is in the bed with me. I just stew, fume, and fidget. It really bothers me. But a little girl? It wouldn't bother me one bit. I expect a girl to be more clingy than not. I expect a boy to let go.
How fucked up is that? I know it's inane and illogical. I know it's a silly thing to get angry about. But I do get angry (I never take it out on him though - I just get up and forgo sleep).

Hey!
7 is really old to still be sleeping with parents, whether it's a boy or a girl, imo.

I'm glad we agree. My fiance thinks I'm making too big an issue over nothing - but she babies him. Then again, I baby him when it comes to girls and friendships. We both have our particular flavor of dealing with childhood drama. She lets him cry and cuddles him if he gets a booboo. I let him cry and cuddle him when his latest girlfriend likes a new boy (with kids these things change daily).

7 is pretty young, so that seems ok. I just think that a 7 year old (generally) is too big to sleep comfortably with if there's another adult already haha. Unless you have a king size bed.

We do. That doesn't mean he doesn't shove his foot up my ass when he sleeps with us.

Huh? Not at all. On the contrary, I would consider a 7 year old too young to get his/her own room. But it depends on the culture, I suppose. I would say that it's ok to be occasionally sleeping with parents until the first signs of puberty.Distruzio wrote:Then again, I baby him when it comes to girls and friendships. Wait... 7 year olds have "girlfriends" where you live?
