2016 Democratic Nomination

Postby Captain Apollo » Sun Aug 17, 2014 5:51 pm

These are all people who could vie for the Democratic nomination in 2016 (save Elizabeth Warren, she's declined. Hopefully she'll run in 2020 or 2024).

Who do you want as the nominee? One choice.

No one on their but Hillary, and maybe Biden, really has a chance. Hillary's current campaign consolidated before she even announced her interest in a run for the White House.

She has the experience, but she is corrupted by Wall Street and too moderate for my taste. I think she'll drive to the middle of the road in office.

Hillary has by far the best chance.

oh me too.

but its hard to keep the same party in the whitehouse once one guy has had 8 years and mrs Clinton can do that.

its a pipe dream to think that a democratic nominee wont be, or at least appear to be, beholden to big money interests. there is no way to win the nomination without buckets of cash.

Of course she does have the best chance. But she also did in 2008. This is about who you want to see as the nominee, not who you think will be.

But that also means she might be able to compromise with the Republicans for once and actually make changes instead of a gridlock.

I wouldn't say that. Obama and Hillary both had pretty good chances, Obama just happened to win it. Right now, I don't see a single candidate that could rival Hillary.

I'd vote for any Democrat unless the Republicans got a REALLY good candidate, someone more moderate or like Reagan, even though those are like polar opposites :p

Clinton, Sanders, and Biden are all solid choices, it's a shame Warren isn't running though. I don't think she'd win anyway.

Maybe Bernie Sanders. He is definitely more leftist than I am, but he seems honest, consistent, and principled.

Sanders is a socialist, the only one in Congress IIRC. He would never win the election and lead to a Republican victory.

I hope that Hillary gets nominated.

I would only vote for a socially liberal republican, and there are never any that make it far.

No, Sanders would be a good President, but couldn't win the election. He probably is exactly what the economy needs. But, something like 70% of Americans think socialism is a dirty word. :P

If they compromise the voters and Tea Party see them as "weak" and just an overall waffle. The Republican Party is destroying itself and preventing a unified political movement.

Huntsman tried in '12, and I might actually consider voting for him if he got nominated, but he is seen as too weak and liberal by most Republicans.
