Without NASA, you would have no microwave, your refrigerator would be ice-powered, solar power would be near-nonexistant, your computer would be considerably larger, your phone would still be attached via landline, and the Internet, television, cell signals, and human presence would be either nonexistant or firmly stuck to this tiny blue marble.

Which, by the way, is constantly being bombarded by space rocks and solar flares.


Think of it this way- We are stuck on a tiny blue dot flying around a smaller than average star in a backwater arm of a nondescript spiral galaxy, one of the most ordinary types.

On the other hand, we are at the dawn of a new golden age. We can control the very world around us, we are developing faster than light travel, and there are estimates we are less than two decades from finding both a second Earth and extraterrestrial life.

And there are still people alive who remember their grandparents believing that humans could not survive travelling faster than 65mph, there were men and oceans on the moon and Mars, and that airplanes were the stuff of science fiction.
