Apples Vs. Oranges

It's the age-old question: Apples or oranges? Which is, definitively, the better fruit?

The problem with this question is that there are a number of subgroups, and different uses for both apples and oranges. Some oranges are for eating, others for juicing. Some apples are for devouring raw, others for baking into a pie. On the versatility angle, I think that apples have a bit of an edge, since you can use them in pies, or make them into cider. You can't make drinkable alcohol directly from oranges (though you can add orange to various liqueurs). On the other hand, you can make orange chicken or duck l'orange, so oranges may have savory uses that the apple can't touch.

For convenience, it's the apple. For cleanliness, it's the orange, which comes in its own wrapper.

I'm actually a bit torn, in case you couldn't tell. What say you, NSG?

And please, let's not get bananas, pears, or other fruits involved in this. This is a simple apples vs. oranges debate, and I see no need to muddy the waters with other choices.

Orange, it has better nutritious value and tastes better.

Oranges, because I don't like Steve Jobs or that iJustine girl who always dances in the Apple store.

The difference is so minute as to barely count.

Can't we pick both? Because I totally like cider and apple pie and orange juice and orange chicken and those chocolate-orange candies and oh there's that one burger over at Prohibition that's got the cooked apples on it that's just amaaaaazing and oranges are such a great palette-cleanser after a meal because of that tart citrus-y goodness but then again a good apple pie with a little bit of ice cream is super-awesome and wait has anybody ever tried making pie with oranges because that might be totally awesome too and-

Oranges. Even though I like apples more as a snack, oranges are more juicy and help with the common cold (at least in my experience)

Is this suppose to be a metaphor, or are we really doing this?

Hey, I love pineapples as much as anyone, but I specifically requested that we not muddy the waters with other fruits. Please do try to stay on topic.

The main difference is in Vitamin A and C

On the other hand, only one of these leaves your fingernails stinging and smelly.

A metaphor is not a fruit. I prefer apples - especially macintosh. Best for baking.

Most of which is made up for by eating a second apple. However, I'll concede that oranges win on a nutrition contest. By that standard, though, wheatgrass juice is superior to either.

Fuck this thread.

Also, Oranges, unless the Apples are green. Plus Apples are easier to eat, as with an Orange you have to peel it.

You were the one that limited it :p

They smell good, and if your neighbor has shitty sewage they can help with the damned smell too.

My point is that you're applying a reductive approach to the question.

There's only one legitimate response to that.

Subjective. What if you have a lower tolerance for acidity?

Fuck you too!

However, everyone knows Oranges are inherently superior.

I don't. Since this entire question is subjective I don't see the problem with my post. Also marmalade.
