Oranges, cleaner? That's just fallacious right off the bat. The juice goes everywhere when you try and open them. And I mean everywhere.

Apples.

1. Apples due to convenience. You need a knife or to really dirty your fingers to open an orange. You can just eat the apple if you don't give a damn about pesticides; Grab and Bite approach.

2. Apple juice > Orange juice in most cases.

3. Apple pies are also really good (orange pies? come on). There's a reason why McDonald never came up with Orange Pies.

4. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. An orange a day? I don't think so... (of course, oranges have their nutritional powers too but there's a reason why an apple is better known for them)

5. In Game of Thrones, apples are shown and not oranges. Renley Baratheon was holding an apple as he was considering Baelish's offer to switch sides and help him take KL... Oranges MIGHT have appeared somewhere but apples are definitely more prominent.

6. There's a very powerful corporation, one of the world's most powerful, named in honor of the Apple. There is no counterpart for Orange.

Do it. I've got a set of the lick and sip ice lolly moulds and use apple juice in them all the time - it's good :)

I voted apple, as I'm more likely to just grab one to eat than I am an orange - but it's a damn hard choice. I mean, Jaffa Cakes alone could pretty much tip the balance the other way...

I'm kind of torn. I'm having to choose between Grand Marnier and Calvados...

I'll go with apples, if only because of the sheer variety of apples and apple dishes. Cider, apple pie, apple brandy, red sauerkraut, apple schnapps...

It's close, but apples.

Apples. Fuji apples in particular; they've been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. The pith on oranges irritates the hell out of me, and I prefer the sweetness of the apple.

Apples on the basis that while I am not keen on them, I don't like oranges. In terms of juices apple juice is better. Plus, cooked apples are actually worth it (esp. if cooked immediately after a steak or something's been in the pan).

They both taste like acid. So, I'm not a huge fan of them.

Apple is more convenient and easier to eat, while there's a good load of tricky work in peeling an orange. Oranges taste more like acid, as well. My teeth don't like the taste of acid.

I checked the pH values of oranges and apples and it seems like I was right -- oranges are more acidic. The pH value of oranges are between 2.9-4.0 and the pH value of apples are somewhere between 3.3-4.0 . (Correct me if the values are wrong)

Also, when I bite an orange the liquid tends to spout out in a similar fashion that tomatoes do when I bite them. Therefore, I'm forced to eat the oranges as a whole.

And whereas the apple is used as a symbol for hip consumer electronics, there's pretty much only the Annoying Orange that can claim a somewhat similar fame. I think I've made my point.

But if I were forced to make a choice at gunpoint, I suppose I'd choose oranges. Kumquats and oranges have a similar texture.
