According to the article, which you likely didn't read, he did it because he was bored. Therefore by his own admittance, he didn't do it for intended religious reasons.

Actually it is a pretty universal holy symbol found in just about every religion on the planet. Which is why Hitler claimed it for his little gang.
The sad thing is that people in the western world now tend to associate it with him instead of everything else. Which some people, including myself, oppose - since it is akin to "letting Hitler win".

I'm pretty sure Hitler didn't have people hating the swastika in mind when he was plotting his master plans.

So if he had drawn a cross because he was bored would he have been fired?

The cross is not considered a racist symbol by McDonald's corporate. It is primarily considered a symbol of Christianity. The primary symbol, not an obscure symbol.

Possibly. Tell you what. Go to NC, get a job at that McDonald's, and start drawing crosses in butter on people's sandwiches.

So McDonald's religiously discriminating against their employees?

It's okay to draw some religious symbols but not all. Sounds like discrimination to me. What if they banned the star of david instead of the swastika?

It seems some people will make any leap of logic to defend the use of Nazi symbols.

The cross was not the forefront symbol of a modern era and infamous regime who is responsible for crimes against humanity.

I was hoping this would be more about fast food conspiracies, but no the Swastika lovers have to come defend it.

So the cross isn't the forefront symbol of the KKK an extremist group who is against homosexuality, jews and other minorities?

Its connotation with the KKK is less than its connotation with the Christian faith in general.

Notice the fire symbol in the tilted square with the red circular background. Those are necessary for it to be a KKK symbol, because that is the symbol and badge they use for their membership.
