I crashed my wonderful Jeep Grand Cherokee, so now I don't have a car. :(

This is Greenberg! I bought him on Friday after total brake failure in my other car, coupled by a slipping transmission and severe electrical problems. Greenberg is a 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition. He is in perfect condition aside from a bad motor in the passenger window, but it still works pretty well. Sunroooooooof.

I love Greenberg.

2007 VW Rabbit, Sage Green. I bought it new back in August 2007. Holy crap. I've had that thing for 7 years?

Sometimes you don't think of these things.

I've never put a lot of miles on it. I think I'm still under 50K, definitely under 60K. I've driven it all over Chicagoland, down to IU at least once, to Waterloo, IA, Cleveland, OH (Never doing that trip again), various parts of Wisconsin and to Steuben County, IN, as part of a court appearance relating to the Cleveland trip. (Who knew doing 103 in a 65 would be a problem?)

Maybe if American car companies started making better cars, more people would drive them...

A Ford Mercury? Is that like a General Motors Chevrolet? It's just a Mercury, it is a brand, not a model of ford. I'm assuming, based off your description of it as a boat, that it is a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis. Glorious and comfortable car, if a bit slow.

As much as a love American cars over imports, the 2000's were not the greatest years for our cars. They've gotten very good recently, and were (mostly, there are always failures) very good up until the early 1990s. I love my Mark VII.

I do not drive one currently, though in the future when I get my license I'll most likely try to get a 2012 Toyota Tacoma.

Well I drive (minus the 8 months in BCT and AIT) a red mustang convertible with a tan soft top that was a 2001 model. Used car, but still runs rather great (minus a few side repairs needed after several years of driving it).

I don't drive a car, as I'm not 16 yet. However, when I turn 16, I'll probably get my dad's Nissan Rogue.

Unreliable and being constantly recalled is on the part of General Motors, which is not the only American car company, folks. Safety, is admittedly, not always the high point of most American cars, but we do make fairly safe large cars and SUV's. American cars are usually cheaper than a comparable German or Japanese car (about 5-10% when new, as much as half the price when used) and they often have more power and better straight line performance.

I'm aware of that. However, the Chrysler company is also notorious making crappy cars, and my family's experience with Chrysler vehicles(which include Dodges, Jeeps etc) are pretty bad. Of all the major American car companies, Ford and Tesla are the only companies that I consider "good."

Not old enough to drive yet.

However, I plan to use a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport that has been with my family since I was two. I don't want to buy anything, too expensive. If that breaks down, I can use a bus.
