It's sad that this man died, but I don't blame the guy for calling the police. He was afraid. Crazy isn't specific to one race, and neither is racism. People who can't look past race for answers, are usually pretty racist. A big black guy with a fire arm can be just as intimidating as a big white guy with a fire arm.

I don't really blame the guy who called the cops, either. It's what I'd do if I saw someone waving a gun around. No, I blame the cops who shot him.

The owner's manual for the MK-177 BB/Pellet rifle warns that misuse can result in serious injury or death. And it specifically warns about waving it in public. "Police and others may think it is a firearm," the manual states.

According to the article, after he was down, Crawford tried to get up and go for either the officer or try to grab the gun again. Sounds pretty threatening to me. Whether it was real or not, you can't risk losing a few police officers. Hell, people can say that a real gun isn't real as much as they like! For all they know, he could've been lying before grabbing the gun and shooting them.

Now this is a stretch if I ever saw one. For one, the only report of him going for the gun after going down comes from the Ritchie's, commenting after the event. Regardless, that doesn't matter. What matters is that the cops with feather fingers shot him before they'd assessed the situation. Had they done so, they would have just detained him at the most.

The other day I saw a black person at the state fair. It really threw off my groove. Normally there aren't black people.

Some idiot like me must have panicked and called the police. But why the police officer needed to shoot him I'm unaware. All he had to do was escort him from the store.

In an apparently deadly fashion regardless of whether they are actually threatened or not. That is not protecting people, that's being trigger happy.

A man in a southwest Ohio Wal-Mart store waved a rifle at customers, including children, and was fatally shot by police when he wouldn't drop the weapon, according to police and a recorded 911 call from a witness.
It says he REFUSED to drop it.

It's how police are trained. It's unfair to assume they had no provocation for shooting him and that they were just "trigger happy". I seriously doubt they didn't ask him to put down the gun.

They don't. All airsoft guns have distinctive orange tips, and distinguishing markers on them, as required by US Law.

For transport under US Law they need orange tips or be completely clear. Only Michigan demands them to be sold with orange tips, but Michigan has 10 million people in it and the cost of making orange tips had to be lower than the loss of sales of not being able to sell them in Michigan.

Black people have this magical ability to turn anything they hold (wallet, bag of Skittles, air rifles, cotton balls...) into deadly weapons.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

A rifle doesn't have that nice orange tip to show if it's real or fake.

The only argument you've managed to give for the majority of this thread was "The report came from the Ritchie's. Therefore it doesn't matter."

That's not really a solid argument. All you're saying is that an eyewitness's report is null and void because they were the ones who called the cops in the first place.

Rape victims don't speak up out of societal pressure. I know, I am one. People who "feel threatened" by someone in a wal-mart report that to the police, because the police ask and they respond honestly. You know why? Because there isn't an overbearing societal pressure to stay silent about what happened because it's your fault in the eyes of many. So, again. Not related.

Man arrested after open-carrying an AR-15 into Texas mall

On the other hand, a white man carrying an actual rifle into a mall is politely arrested instead of being shot at the slightest flinch.

Tazers are certainly less lethal than shooting with a gun. I wonder if this police department refused to adopt the less lethal options.

if you hit him with a taser the gun could suddenly go off, endangering others.

Also, if he was facing the officers while waving the gun around, they might not have the time to pull out a taser before they were shot. I'm assuming they entered with their guns out already since they got a call about a suspect armed with a firearm.
