Your argument that "they shouldn't have shot him because they sell guns there" is not what you should be trying to hinge this on.
I fully believe that if the man had been white, there would have been a polite conversation and a request to put down the weapon, rather than escalating to threat of (and in this instance, carrying out of) shooting the man.

The police may not even have been called. Mothers would have hurried children away and others tutted at a white gun nut irresponsibly pointing a weapon around, if that's even what he did.

But if a man who did have a firearm, openly displayed in a store with or without the intention of discharging it - and he suddenly has to face down two armed police officers - does it not cross your mind that he might claim it's not real, in order to not be shot? Many shooters would rather immediately surrender to (or commit suicide) the police than be killed by them.

Being belligerent is what the two officers who had attended were told he was being, as this is what the 911 caller alleged and what the dispatcher will have relayed.

So they're going to see a guy (I'll even leave race aside here), who they've been told is pointing a gun at people and they find him, indeed holding a gun in a store that cannot (cannot) be reasonably differentiated from a real firearm.

Funny that i did not even notice this guy was black till the NS faux Liberal racists made the connection for me and even then i had to squint.

Can anyone tell me why this thread title makes any sence? I'd hope that, if a white jerk would point a fake gun at people, the police would be called as well. Though, killing him is pretty excessive. Nevertheless, I don't know if there was a reason for them to open fire on the guy. Maybe he pointed the gun at them?

You don't have to be a "hardcore racist" or a KKK member to be more likely to pull the trigger on a black person holding what might be a weapon than a white person. Please note that I'm not saying that the cops were acting on racist impulses (though I see a possibility), but rather that your attempt to paint this in such extreme terms isn't really adding anything constructive to the conversation. Unconsciously buying into frightening stereotypes (while consciously saying to oneself "I don't have anything against anyone") isn't uncommon.
