The JSDF has 260,300 active personnel across all of its branches. That is a larger standing force than France, the UK and Germany. You wouldn't call any of those countries pushovers now would you?

The UK has about 230,000 personnel counting reserves.

France has 240,000, which counting the Gendarmie, goes up to 330,000.

Germany has 325,000, counting reserves.

Japan has 311,000, counting reserves.

So yeah. Stronger then everybody but Germany.

They clearly want total war with whole world. They said it but how much further they must prove it? :p

That is incredibly disturbing.

I recall hearing Jordan say that they would execute two (maybe more? Can't remember now) ISIS prisoners if he was harmed. Guess it shouldn't surprise me that ISIS doesn't care about even its own people, but still...

If anything this shows they can't be negotiated with in any case whatsoever. The Jordanian government was saying they were willing to exchange prisoners, they just needed proof he was alive.

Does ISIS even have tactics? Seems to me all they do is just behead them anyway.

They clearly sacrificed themselves for the fight. Killing the prisoners martyrs them, keeping them alive allows for the chance at determining why they're fighting. Of course, I don't hold out hope that Jordan is going to be...interested in ending this peacefully. Which plays right into ISISISISIS's hands.

Yeah. And this was at the behest of a moderate Islamist government too. Bad optics for ISIS all around.

Yes, they have tactics. That was easily seen in their various offensives and how they've conducted themselves in various urban battles.

ISIS is a bunch of murderous psychopaths that use jihad as an excuse to murder anyone that dissents from what they believe, whether it be men, women, or children. Any person from the west that would actually join them, are absolute losers that take everything democracy offers for granted.

I really don't want to have to end up warning good people for letting their anger get the better of them. I really do not, and I doubt any of the rest of the moderators do either. Thanks, folks.

From what I understand of these ISIS savages, their cruelty would make even the SS Totenkopf (for those who are unaware, they were the specific branch of the SS who ran the concentration camps, IIRC.) And like Quintium said back on page 1:

"This Islamic State will eventually fall, because even with birth rates that will cause the population in the area to double within one generation there won't be enough manpower at some point in the not too distant future. But in that same future, it'll be tried over and over again, in the Middle East and elsewhere (similar groups exist in South Asia, South-East Asia and Europe but don't have the 'critical mass' yet). This is just one of many - it will be defeated militarily, but it will live on in the hearts and minds of millions and millions of people the world over, and that is the real threat."

So if we not only want to end ISIS, but end everything they represent and end Islamic Totalitarianism once and for all, we must approach this threat the same way we approached the threat of Shintoism in 1945. We must first identify Islamic Totalitarianism as the political threat facing the West, then direct American (or whichever nation you're from) resources towards ending the political imposition of Islamic Law, beginning with the Islamic State of Iran, along with any state that provides funding to these barbarian trash. By identifying the advocates of political Islam – those who would impose Islamic Law by force – as the true enemy, Americans (or any civilized people, for that matter.) could destroy its state manifestation wherever it appears, and then offer an intellectual alternative to jihad. This is the only way to end the threat posed by Islamic Totalitarianism, and to re-establish a proper basis for freedom across the globe. It must be decisive, it must be memorable, it may even have to be cruel in order to get through to them. Though I honestly hope the latter isn't necessary, though I'm not gonna hold my breath on that.

Japan was also willing to negotiate, but ISIS did not bother to respond to any attempt at contact...
It seems the only party they truly are willing to negotiate with is Turkey.

EDIT, it appears the execution of the pilot happened WEEKS ago. So IS never had any intention to swap.

Holy shit. Absolutely horrible. Condolences to the family.

Jordan should clean up their prisons of all prisoners with ISIS sympathies and hang them high at dawn, including that bitch who Baghdadi wanted released. She should be first.
