Place your nonexistant bets folks.

Seeing as Glasgow is the only majority Yes vote so far, I'd bet that we'll be seeing No votes from those areas as well.

Not the only one - Dundee City also voted yes (57%), as did West Dunbartonshire (54%) and North Lanarkshire (51%). Inverclyde voted 50% YES and 50% NO - or near enough.

My former Fife stomping grounds are declaring....

And convincingly declaring No.

Which means that No has now officially reached the winning line across Scotland as a whole; Moray and the Highlands can't change the result.

You do realize that Scotland wasn't conquered, right?

They (rather stupidly) invested 20% (or more; accounts differ) of the entire wealth of the realm into one, poorly-planned colony expedition - when it failed, Scotland's economy went into a recession that beggared the 1930s in comparison. When they went to England asking for help with the resulting financial crisis, the price Westminster demanded was agreement to the Acts of Union (there was also a background of laws and counter-laws regarding the Stuart succession, but that was of secondary importance to most - particularly since no Stuart monarch had set foot in Scotland for over a century except in time of war).

It wasn't conquest. It wasn't the "rough wooing" of Henry VIII, or even gunboat diplomacy. It was England pushing for legal unification with Scotland as the price of clearing massive Scottish debts - the two nations already having been in personal union for over a century. What's more, Scotland did massively well out of the Industrial Revolution specifically because the Union gave them access to English colonial markets, which they (as a foreign nation) had previously been shut out of.

Don't make it what it isn't. If you think Scotland should go its own way for any of a half-dozen reasons, fine and more power to you - but don't do it based on a heavily-slanted historiography.

Point most graciously taken. :)

Thank you for the good grace :)

A Truck (I think that's what a lorry is) crashed, very badly, and blocked one of the major roadways. That's why its taking so long, they had to let the votes go longer.
